Legal Resources

You can mediate with or without legal representation.  No mediator, whether an attorney or not, can give you legal advice.  We always recommend that at minimum you have an attorney review your final agreement before signing it to make sure that you fully understand your legal rights and responsibilities.

To obtain legal advice, you can either retain an attorney to assist and represent you throughout the process, or obtain advice as and when you need it (called "unbundled legal advice").

Mediations can be conducted with neither party having an attorney, parties consulting with attorneys as needed, both parties retaining an attorney but just using them in the background, both parties having attorneys represent them throughout the mediation, or any combination.
